Vardar bows out of Champions League

Vardar loses campaign
Macedonian champions FK Vardar have bowed out of the Champions League qualifiers with a 1-2 loss at home against Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest last night at Filip II Arena, Skopje.

The Macedonians end their campaign with a 5-1 aggregate loss to their Romanian opponents. The goal for Vardar coming from Kostovski just before half time.

Steaua move onto the third round of qualifications against Dinamo Tbilisi.

There was no luck for the Vardar supporters either, as the Komiti were banned from entering which resulted in clashes with police outside of the stadium. There has been a spike in incidents involving police and Macedonian support groups over recent times, with supporters accusing the police of heavy handedness and discrimination.
