Turnovo out of Europa League

Turnovo end dream run
Macedonian underdogs Horizont Turnovo bowed out of the Europa League qualifiers last night with a 1-1 draw against Croatian giants Hajduk Split.

The Macedonian surprise packets Turnovo ended their dream run 3-2 on aggregate making their opponents work hard for their win. Turnovo, which comes from  a village of 1000 on the outskirts of Strumica, surprised the nation by making it to the second round of qualifiers and just missing out on progressing to the third against their highly rates opponents.

In a display of friendship, the Hajduk Split players stood behind a banner which payed respect to the victims of the devastating 1963 earthquake that destroyed most of Skopje.

Turnovo now looks to the national league season ahead.
